Resurrection Catholic School at the Cathedral
Service & Volunteer League (SVL)

The Purpose of our Volunteer Program
In conjunction with the Strategic Planning process for Resurrection Catholic School, the need was identified to create a non-hierarchal volunteer organization to support the administration, teachers, students, parents, families, community, and the mission of our school.

Discernment
Discern God’s will for your role of service as a volunteer at Resurrection Catholic School. Give prayerful thought to the list of position before you make your decision. May God bless your discernment journey and may He lead you to the place of service He has uniquely gifted for you!

Expectations
The expectation for the Service & Volunteer League is for school families to serve in at least one area of volunteerism. To discover, develop, and use your God-given gifts; to serve with a passionate commitment; to invest knowledge and love in the lives of Resurrection Catholic School. Additionally, there is an expectation to elevate and support staff, students, and fellow volunteers through prayer, thoughts, words, and deeds.

Our Duty
The Service & Volunteer League for Resurrection Catholic School shall be responsive to the needs of administration, teachers, students, parents, families, and the community. Our volunteers model Christian leadership and charity. Our volunteers are dynamic, engaging, flexible, goal-oriented, productive, and inclusive.

The Structure
Room parents will be assigned specific activities to organize.

Resurrection Catholic School
Volunteer Guidelines

As a volunteer at Resurrection Catholic School, YOU are key to the success of our day-to-day operations. YOU are very important to the administration, staff, and children of this community. We cannot successfully do our job without you!

In volunteering, remember. . . our children’s future is in your “CARE.”

C
Confidentiality is the most important qualification for the job that you are about to undertake. Always remember, you are here to help in the care and education of each and every child in this building. If you encounter a child who struggles ora child that excels, that information remains with the teacher, the child, and you. Always regard what you do here as an act of love.

A
Always sign-in before you report to your position and always wear your guest I.D. badge. The sign-in log and volunteer I.D. badges are located in the school office. The sign-in keeps us informed as to where you are - just in case we need to locate you. The I.D. badges are a must for security and to help us all to learn everyone’s names.

R
There are many Responsibilities that come with this volunteer position, but the three most important are training, promptness, and subs!
1. Training – any person who is going to work with our children are required to attend Virtus Training sponsored by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Virtus Training focuses on the protection of God’s children. Training times and locations are listed on the Archdiocese’s website, www.archkck.org.
2. Promptness – schedules and deadlines are important to our success. Please be on time. You keep us ticking along!
3. Subs – If something comes up, and you cannot get to your assigned volunteer job, it is your responsibility to find your own sub.
We are compiling a list of several “on call” subs who would be able to help. E
Every child is a gift. Enjoy them! Know that when you volunteer at Resurrection, you are helping to do God’s work! Bless you!

When volunteering in the school building, please know that this job needs your full attention and as with any job, for safety and concentration, you will need to leave babies and pre-school children in the care of someone else while you work at school.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Again, thank you for giving so generously of your time and talents. You are truly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ann Connor Angie Gregory

My personal success is measured by the success of our team.

I will be honest, open, and clear and turn criticism into collaboration.

I recognize that each member of our team has a special gift that contributes to the success of the whole group.

I will always speak positively of my teammates in public: they will be safe with me, even in their absence.

If I have a problem with a teammate, I will go to him or her first.

When in doubt, I will give my teammates the benefit of the doubt.

I will pray for each member of our team regularly.

I will support in public the decisions we make in private.

Confidence will remain safely inside our group.

Patience will be given freely when we encounter one another’s faults. Resurrection Catholic School at the Cathedral
