Dear Parents,

It really seems like October. The leaves are turning their bright fall colors, and the temperature has cooled down. Please remember that we do go outside for recess, so please send your child to school with a sweater or jacket.

As we progress into the quarter, we start getting into some very important concepts in reading. One concept that helps in the reading process are sight words. They are called sight words because students need to recognize them by sight. They should not try to sound them out for that slows them down when they are reading.

Every two weeks I will send home a list that they need to study and then that following Friday they will be tested over these words. Please study these words. The list is the same words from the last test. I add words that have been introduced that week.

In math we have start doing both addition and subtraction. They can write a number sentence for both concepts. They are working hard.

Book order forms are in today’s folder. Please return the form to me by October 15.

Thanks for all you do for your child.
