*A lot of times difficulty in the classroom comes from the child and teacher not being able to understand each other's point of view. Here is a good article on how you as a parent can help: When a Teacher and Child Do Not Get Along
*your teen's school performance is missing the mark, sleep problems could be the culprit. Students with low grades are more likely to experience sleep interruptions from snoring and restless, achy legs, says a study by the University of Colorado School of Medicine. They also may have difficulty waking up in the morning and concentrating during the day. See a doctor if your teen can't seem to get a good night's sleep. In the meantime, follow these tips from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine:
- Remember that quality sleep is important on a regular basis; discourage all night study or homework sessions.
- Instead of sleeping in on weekends, set a consistent wake-up time.
- Make the bed a sleep-only zone. No writing, eating, watching TV or talking on the phone in bed.
- Eliminate caffeinated foods and beverages after lunch time.
- Avoid after-school naps. If a quick snooze cannot be avoided, wake your teen after one hour.
* Did you know that the average child spends approximately 31 hours a week watching television and only 5 hours a week actually exercising or doing some outdoor activity. GET YOUR KIDS OUTSIDE!!!! TURN OFF THE TV!!! TAKE AWAY THE XBOX!!!!

*Did you know skim milk has the same nutritional value that whole milk has, with less fat.
*Did you know that a healthy eating style is like a puzzle with many parts. Each part -- or food -- is different. Some foods may have more fat, sugar or salt while others may have more vitamins or fiber. There is a place for all these foods. What makes a diet good or bad is how foods fit together. Balancing your choices is important. Fit in a higher-fat food, like pepperoni pizza, at dinner by choosing lower-fat foods at other meals. And don't forget about moderation. If two pieces of pizza fill you up, don't eat a third.
Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it. ~Plato
